Mishap #2

Yesterday I was wondering if starting these chronicles was a mistake.  My luck had changed.  I hadn't had any unforeseen obstacles jump into my path or say something at the wrong time.

Today my daughter and I went somewhere we never go and purely out of convenience.  So, it was in the Walmart parking lot that Mishap #2 occured.

I've opened my trunk a hundred times.  More than a hundred times.  I insert the key, turn it, and lift up using the key as leverage.

Today, however, my routine changed when I followed said pattern and my key broke off entirely inside of the keyhole.  Fantastic.  I know what you are thinking, maybe opening your trunk that way is what weakened the key in the first place resulting in THIS.  Well, probably.

How does this happen?  Has this EVER happened to a "normal, graceful" person?  If it has happened to you, do you have clodhopper genes?

My daughter flipped out.  "What are we going to do????"  I suggested that we laugh.  "What else can we do besides laugh about it?"  "We can CRY!"

She then proceeded to remind me that the Walmart parking lot is cursed and we should never go back (we have had our car break down TWICE there).

Well, laugh we did and luckily we were able to get into the trunk and stow the groceries and get a blanket for my daughter to lay on.  Prince Charming saved the day and brought the extra key so we could get home.

At the very least, we sparked several rumors in the Walmart parking lot about how some lady had wrapped her daughter in a blanket and tucked her into the trunk of her car.  Come on people, it was for comfort and warmth and only until we were rescued.  Besides, it isn't like there wasn't anything to eat or drink back there.
